Posio - Korouoma Frozen Waterfalls
Posio, just 65 km from Kuusamo airport, is home to the impressive Korouoma Canyon which is famous for its frozen waterfalls. It is the most popular place in Finland for ice-climbing and there are actually 14 frozen streams in the canyon to climb. The Korouoma Canyon sits within the magnificent Riisitunturi National Park and after the snow and ice has melted, opens up a whole new world of things to see and do.
Lake Livojärvi is definitely worth exploring during the warm summer months. It has crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches and is a popular spot for picnics, beach volleyball and swimming. There are several campsites dotted in the Riisitunturi National Park forests that surround Posio where you can rent a cabin or lodge and explore this amazing part of Finnish Lapland.
