The main attraction is the mighty Caernarfon Castle which was built in the 13th century by Edward I as a Royal Palace and military fortress. The town itself is pretty with narrow streets and a stylishly redeveloped waterfront which houses the marina with several good bars and restaurants.
Whilst located on the coast, Caernarfon is surprisingly just a few miles away from the Snowdonia National Park. This beautiful part of North Wales is home to Mount Snowdon, lakes, forests and rivers.
